Are we gonna go through this paranoid crap again? Explain to me how it works. How do big stakeholders in wall street instruct the media?Quote from BigDan:
Probably because the biggest stakeholders in wall street have a major say in big media.
Then how was John Stewart able to use stock footage and do a comedy bit about it if it is all so hushed up and blacked out?Quote from deThommo:
There's apparently a media black out on this. I've been following it a bit on twitter and it sounds serious. Am not in New York though so I don't know the truth of it. But not even seeing a hint of it in the mainstream online news (BBC, Reuters, CNN etc).
Quote from J Ski:
I saw a video and the police were spraying
mace at some girls, that they had roped off
in some of that barrier material.
We make fun of the Europeans, but
if that happened there, there would have been one hell
of a riot.
What has happened to us. We can't fight.
no kidding, The bank loaned you money and you can't pay it back, but don't worry, we will bail the bank out so you won't have to owe money to a failed bank.Quote from S2007S:
Why did it take them this long to start protesting, this should have taken place years ago, now all of the sudden they are protesting...
How many bailouts, stimulus plans, TARPS and QEs does it have to take before people realize whats going on, I hope these people who are protesting know who BUBBLE ben bernanke is.
I think the girls roped themselves off. That's why the cops were using mace to try to disperse them out of their roped off area. But you actually have to read that part. It makes a better story if it is covered in such a way that most observers interpret it the way you did.Quote from J Ski:

This is what I don't get. Liberals believe everything is public property. So why are they mad at NYSE? You can't be listed unless you are actually publicly owned.Quote from deThommo:
Turns out it's like 2000 people tops and they are just random hippy complainers who hate the system because they don't understand it and got left behind by it in these tough times. There's a handful of people with something interesting to say but that's about it.
Maybe there'll be riots like we had here in London, but the new york lot look like a bunch of confused middle class kids rather than any kind of disgruntled and unwashed underclass.
Oh, and another thing deThommo, This is America, we don't have a disgruntled and unwashed underclass like you do in London. Here we are all free and equal. Being disgruntled and unwashed is a lifestyle choice. And if you want to be a snob and think you are better than someone else and look down on them, that may make you upper class in London, but here again, it is just a choice.Quote from deThommo:

There is only one stock on that exchange that they now like. They use to hate it because it treated labor so unfair, but now they like it, and that is GM because the government owns it. They consider themselves the government so now they own it and want it to go up in price.
