You could be right. Again, not sure what it's like in Chicago. But I'm changing my opinion on where it will go based on what I've seen here. This is NYC though, where 90% of the city leans left anyway.
One thing I do disagree with though is the utility of specific demands (assuming the main unifying complaint is about the influence of money over politicians, and not iPads and handouts). Tahrir Square needed that -- they were overthrowing a corrupt autocrat. Here it's different. Like the Civil Rights movement, you're not overthrowing a government -- what works to make something stick is to mobilize and express discontent. But unlike that event, there is no Jim Crow legislation to overturn. No easy solution that you could ever consolidate into a demand.
Within this democracy, all you can do is boot the current crop of legislators.
Afraid? RCG, the ACLU is sitting their with their i-phones waiting for one cop to lay a finger on a protester so that they can claim police brutality. And they do have a constitutional right to assemble and protest provided they don't block traffic. There is no reason to disburse them. No one is afraid RCG, except for a lawsuit.
I havenât seen much of the protesters here in SF, but from what I have seen they appear to be the same communist jackasses who will protest anything. They are just doing it because that is what they do. They haul out the same signs for every freakin protest, no matter the cause. Itâs embarrassing.
I have also seen some who appear as though they may actually be employable. It seems to me these people are looking for a villain on whom they can project their sense of inadequacy, nothing else. Wall Street and âcorporate greedâ is an easy target. I think they may also believe (in a very incoherent way) that their protesting is a counterpoint to the Tea Party, and they hope that they can drown out all the tax payers in this country who are pissed off at wasteful government spending and ridiculous rhetoric embodied by the Class Warrior in Chief.

They hear socialism mentioned once and write the entire thing off as delusional ranting. There's an appreciation thread dedicated to police arrest and beating videos, with all the regulars chiming in with an approving nod or thumbs up.
