Our immigration policy used to be based upon quota and merit.

Should still be that way.

Our Constitution and laws never envisioned a "horde invaders*" that our legal system apparently can't stop without the cooperation of Congress... other than the Commander in Chief acting like the commander of the military.... which he has not done.

*Throughout history countries have had standing armies.... one major purpose has been to REPEL INVADERS.... who used to enslave the conquered and/or took their stuff (including their land) and/or killed those conquered. Why are American DemoCraps/RINOs inviting invaders into our country to suck us dry economically, to kill our culture and then likely to kill us literally?

She is right...referring to documented immigrants or allowed refugees. I find it funny how people try to put the founder of Google and other high tech start ups who came here via a process in the same group as someone who crossed a fence in the middle of the night and is in hiding working for money under the table.

This country was built on immigration, but not unfettered, un checked and un regulated immigration because that results in chaos to be honest. The current image is GOP wants absolute bans on all immigrants and Dems want complete open borders with no barriers. This is the clown circus we have arrived where both parties went full extreme and people keep coming into the big gaping hole left in the middle.

No, the republican voting base wants an end to illegal immigration and a pause or slowdown in legal immigration. The establishment pols and big donors want the same thing as dems, open borders, amnesties and a massive flow of low cost labor.

I don't think he's saying that all Republicans are against all immigrants legal and illegal, it's just the image that extremists are trying to paint, just like trying to say all Democrats are for completely open borders. They're not but extremists like AOC are trying to push the party in that direction. Franky, in my not so humble opinion, neither party is all that upset with illegal immigration as they both benefit from it on the never ending campaign trail. Lots of lip service and no real substance.
