The whole argument of which generation is to blame for the decline of America is complicated and unlikely to be solved through an internet message board. There are however some pertinent questions one can ask to find some answers. Once again, in this case, as with most all things, there are no clean hands.
Ask yourselves who were in positions of power, who was in charge of things during the 60's and 70's when "boomers" were coming of age? Who was it that decided that teenagers should determine dress code and school curriculum? Who was it that wanted so badly for their children to have an easier life than they did? Who bent when they should have stood firm? It wasn't the boomers, we weren't old enough to be in charge of anything. This was all done with the best of intentions, it was done out of love. They didn't want their children to suffer through the abject poverty, hard times, discrimination of all sorts, wars that saw millions die. The softens of America began right then and there.
As time has passed every decade has seen us grow weaker as a people. Why is that? What is different now than back then, I mean really different? It's the widespread self loathing. What causes that self loathing? Guilt, that's what. And what causes all that guilt? Pissing and moaning about how fucking tough you have it when deep down you know you've been on easy street your entire fucking life. You know out of shear dumb luck and random selection you were fortunate enough to be born in this time, in this country. You know what a complete ingrate you really are and hate yourself for it. This gets worse generation to generation. There you have it. Chew on it for awhile.
