Obama's buck-stopping goes only so far

Quote from traderNik:

Apparently Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab never got that memo.

...He should have fired a bunch of people over this failure of intelligence on Xmas day. Had he done that, he would have distinguished himself from the political creatures he professes to despise...
But he didn't, apparently he doesn't despise those "political creatures" after all. In fact he's just another one of them.

I wonder if one day, you guys will realize just how pathetic all of these hysterical character assassination posts really are. I mean, come on. We've just come off 8 years of being led by a guy who is acknowledged by both sides as probably the worst President in the history of the office, a guy who spent the majority of his time on vacation, when he wasn't busy involving the US in their most disastrous military debacle since Vietnam. Obama has had a decent track record; not great but not terrible, and he's been lauded by (non-hysterical) members of the right for his commitment to Afghanistan. He reversed the idiotic ban on stem cell research. He's going to effect long-needed change in health care. Just his presence has gone a long way towards mending America's shattered image abroad.

In any case, you guys need to get a life, man. Seriously. You should be worrying about who in the fuck you have in the stable to run against him in '12. Who's it going to be? Sarah Palin, the only profile Republican who is possibly less intelligent than George Bush?

The Obamanuts think he is going to save the world. The Anti-Obamanuts want him to do it in his first year.

How's this: Obama wanted the job. It became his responsibility when he took the oath of office. The economy was troubled, but Bush left. Forget the "inherited" thing. What's happening?

Same logic: Bush wanted the job too. Protecting America against terrorism became his responsibility when he took the oath of office. bin Laden had been threatening to strike the US, but Clinton left. Forget the "inherited" thing. What happened?

You can argue it any way you want to fulfill your own point of view.

Well, we all know what these maniacs are. You could lock America down and stop all international air traffic, but they'd find a way to detonate a bomb in search of those elusive virgins.

I'd argue that anyone, right or left, who makes it to the White House has to be partly of this species. I guess I just see him as being a hell of a lot better than GWB.

Now that I think about it, when GWB was in office, the liberals loved to do sort of the same thing, constantly pointing out that he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Part of what makes this different is that the extremist right on here sometimes seem more focused on those who support Obama than they are on Obama himself.

I'd agree with most of what you said. I'm not exactly Obama's biggest fan. I just think the hysterical hand-wringing that goes on here makes the 3 or 4 guys who start the 30 or so threads a week on this subject look like fools.

The worst was Carter. Bush second.
