ObamaCare Critic Ted Cruz Must Enroll in ObamaCare

(NEWSER) – One of Ted Cruz's main themes as a new presidential candidate is to repeal ObamaCare in its entirety. But first, he's planning to sign up for it, because he needs health insurance. "We will presumably go on the exchange and sign up for health care and we're in the process of transitioning over to do that," Cruz tells the Des Moines Register. Cruz used to be covered by wife Heidi's benefits at Goldman Sachs, but she has taken an unpaid leave of absence for her husband's campaign, notes CNN. Thus, no more benefits from there, leaving Cruz to get it through his employer—the federal government.

"I believe we should follow the text of every law, even (a) law I disagree with," Cruz tells CNN's Dana Bash. "It's one of the real differences—if you look at President Obama and the lawlessness, if he disagrees with a law he simply refuses to follow it or claims the authority to unilaterally change."

Were COBRA plans outlawed with the ACA?

Could this have been another headline.

Senator Cruz who wants to abolish the IRS, actually will pay his taxes...Oh, the hypocrisy.

No, but you can probably get cheaper through the exchange. COBRA you could possibly end up paying 102% of your total premium in your ex-employers group plan. However you might find that plan coverages and deductibles are better thru COBRA. Downside is most people are limited to 18 months coverage.
