Sure it does. and RCG's post stating that it doesn't refer to white people is ridiculous. But, and apparently this is just my opinion, calling someone a redneck isn't all that insulting - even if true. One of the funniest stand ups I've ever seen.

Regardless, no one here would ever call a white guy a porch monkey, nor a black guy a redneck. Thus, those two words are directed to be racial in usage.

Calling someone a redneck is far more benign in intent than calling someone a porch monkey. That is again, just my opinion. I think even those who openly disagree, inwardly understand.

The term redneck came from some red scarf worn by southern miners back in the 1800s or something like that. It just happened to be that all were from the south, so southerner took on a similar type meaning as redneck.

Porch monkey compares the receiver of the insult to an animal on a sub-human level - implying they are genetically inferior or not equal to human beings.

It is obvious you are getting really defensive on this front, making the leap to such silly items as jungle gyms and monkey bars - which have nothing to do with race, and everything to do with how children hang from them and such. But continue your silly rant, if it makes you feel better.

Doesn't matter, dude. Redneck is an insult directed only towards white people, even if it isn't meant for all of them. Max was right when he called up Chris Rock's skit involving black men vs. niggers. It's the exact same parallel, with the one exception I would note is that our society accepts the word redneck far more easily, and the word itself does not have the history and malevolent intent behind it that the other does.
