Quote from RCG Trader:
It's funny because I almost felt the same way here yesterday at ET.
PT calls me a porch monkey. Tsing, Redneck, and CO, kinda rise up.
I wanted to say, and did say, no big deal, I know where I am, I can take it. IOW, I just wanted to buy everybody a round and forget about it.
Americans hate racism. They do. We live in a different era. That is why I have decided to retire the word, "redneck". Even if it is not as severe as porch monkey.
Americans hate racism.
I wondered after I made that post if you would interpret it as I was somehow defending you â make no mistake â I was not
======================================
Recall I said I have black friends
They are my friends â period
For me to call them friend..., but not speak up when confronted with racist epithets â would be deceitful and undeserving of their friendship
What I did is stand up hereâ¦, before my peersâ¦, and express my dislike of using racially..., or religiously derogatory terms
What I also didâ¦, was defend my friendsâ¦., so that the next time I see them â I can look them square in the eye
Likely as not they will never know of my previous post⦠but I do.. and always will
======================================
Some of the shit you've posted RCG is indefensibleâ¦.
=======================================
As for your âAmericans hate racismâ sentence
If that were true â racism would not exist in the US⦠it does⦠and there is not a state in the union where it canât be found
And if you were able to see with a dispassionate eye â you would see racism is perpetuated from the very top all the way through every level of society
There are exceptions⦠but that is what it is â isolated pockets of exceptions where a few people have banded togetherâ¦gotten past it⦠and accepted each other
===========================================
If we really want to obliterate racism⦠then letâs call it what it isâ¦. bring it out from the shadows⦠discuss it⦠collectively decide how to get past it â then as a people move on
Instead its been buried/ masked/ relabeled⦠(think ostrich head in the sand syndrome)
And is alive and well â in blacksâ¦, whites⦠reds⦠browns⦠and yellows
Truthfully, deep down â I am a racistâ¦, and so are my friends â but with each other â we've somehow managed to get past that
Americans as a whole â not even close
btw - I'm not big on religion either - but I'll not put someone down for theirs
