Quote from Landis82:
Agreed.
While this is admittedly a "qualitative" observation based on their union-based drivers, UPS drivers are "coddled" compared to that of FDX.
UPS drivers are only allowed to make a certain amount of deliveries per day. Why do I know this, because a friend of mine is a worker's comp/safety manager at UPS. Meanwhile, FDX drivers scramble like rats to get their trucks totally unloaded and ALL parcels delivered by the end of the day.
In otherwords, UPS needs more drivers (and cost) to deliver the same amount of parcels compared to FDX.
Just pointing out some of the rather SIGNIFICANT differences between the two companies. It's not all "apples and apples" when comparing these 2 publicly traded companies.
I too have an insight to the inner workings of these two companies. The only simularities these two share is that they both deliver packages. The corporate culture of UPS and Fedex are exact opposites, yet they are both profitable companies. That being said, the halfrican comparing the USPS to those two companies as an example for why his health care plan is a good idea wasn't his best moment. Apples, oranges, and turds.
