Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:
I'd never heard someone label serving America in combat and suffering enemy torture as a POW as "only working in government". A more accurate appraisal would be neither McCain nor Obama has experience in the private sector. Period.[/b]
Except that Obama has experience working in the private sector, in multiple firms. McCain simply doesn't.
And yes, he was tortured. That's not a basis for the presidency, however.
Fair enough. He used a legal if not disingenuous device. Once again labeling Alice Palmer as his "opponent" is an imprecise use of language. She was the incumbent. Obama STABBED HER IN THE BACK.
Hardly. She didn't have the names she claimed to have, and so he cleverly got the nomination.
I want a clever president. His actions were not immoral at all.
In 1995, State Senator Alice Palmer introduced her chosen successor, Barack Obama, to a few of the districts influential liberals at the home of two well known figures on the local left: William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.
I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress, said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. [Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.
So which is it, according to you, was he her chosen successor or did he evilly steal her rightful nomination that she was somehow "owed."
Your sources are contradicting your story pretty badly here.
Well, Alice lost the congressional race and decided that she wanted to hang onto that hard-won state senate seat. Most of the community leaders tried to persuade Obama to withdraw and wait his turn; he was a newcomer after all.
Yeah, and...?
An examination of Illinois records shows at least 36 times when Mr. Obama was either the only state senator to vote present or was part of a group of six or fewer to vote that way.
So? He voted present 138 times out of 4000. What difference does it make if he was grouped, ungrouped, etc.?
In more than 50 votes, he seemed to be acting in concert with other Democrats as part of a strategy.
Again... so? Isn't that what parties do?
Nope. He was elected four years ago.
He was inaugurated in January of 2005. He announced his candidacy for President in May of 2007.
My statement stands as correct. Less than half, as the original poster falsely claimed.
If one looks at the "facts" they see a man who with Machiavellian ambition who has cultivated unsavory relationships and thrown one friend after another under the bus. People interested in "facts" see a man with little accomplishment beyond academia. They see a man with no legislative record. A man from a corrupt fiscally inept Chicago and Illinois. They see a man who promotes Orwellian slogans like "Hope" and "Change" that will only under deliver a promise to America's middle class. In short Obama is an ASSHOLE and his supporters are ASSHOLES.
Oh come now, Pabst. He's ambitious and he's experienced.
I'm kind of impressed, though, that someone who voted Republican and now shares the blood of thousands of innocents on his hands thinks that
this guy is an "asshole."
When, without justification, Obama blows the arms off of six year olds,
then you can call him an asshole.
