I don't think there is any doubt Obama is driven by his megalomaniac vision to have a legacy written about in history books. Pretty simple, first term health care, second term immigration. It was pretty obvious when in 2012 when republicans lost and they tried to finally talk to democrats about immigration reform and he would have nothing of it. He didn't want it bi partisan immigration reform, he wanted the books to write "Obama Immigration Reform" and he basically just wrecked any hope of democrats and republicans agreeing on anything.
The difference is, USA is not Chicago, and people will nail him when he opens his mouth. You can only blame whites who can't tolerate a powerful black man so long, especially since he was voted into office twice by a majority of whites.
I will admit, he makes good speeches. They don't make any sense, but they always sound good at the time. His most famous two words, and I believe will be his legacy is "We Need". He speaks to the needy who always "need" something. He has no and never had a vision how to get people from "we need" to "we have." (they didn't teach that at Harvard Law School, that was for those right wingers who attended business school.)

Actually, he is simply trying to do the right things. Health care, immigration and global warming are all very important issues that require attention. He should be applauded for doing so. I don't understand why folks never want to give credit where credit is due and somehow see it as a sign of weakness to do so. Armchair critics are a dime a dozen.

I never said the GOP wanted anything reasonable. GOP and reasonable are kind of an oxymoron. All I said was they were scared that they better do "something", "anything", to prove they were not the party of "no". Obama put a stop to that by inserting that a vote for immigration reform was a vote for Him. And that was a bridge too far for the republicans.
