Obama, the ice cream man

Quote from trackstar:

Did you not notice we have a black president now?? I think we can safely say what you posted above is no longer true.
That is a great accomplishment, for both Obama and for the people of this Nation, regardless of some of the sentiments that I have seen reflected on this board.

We will see how it is reflected on the condition that the average African-American experiences on a daily basis going forward, up to this point however, what I have described has most definitely has been the case.

So stop complaining ...

Quote from MandelbrotSet:

It's like this fellas.

You're complaining about the guy (or girl) who has been relegated to the back kitchen and is served the left over scraps from last week while you get to dine on the freshest produce of the day, every day.

And when you're done you will get the first choice of everything that comes your way ... housing, jobs, careers, hell, even entertainment.

Whereas the other will have (to a great degree) take what is given to them, make it work, and enjoy it for what it is.

Now is the true for all whites?
Absoutely not, but for the majority, YES.

And is the flipside true for all blacks?
Absolutely not, burt for the majority, YES.

Certainly the odds are consistently stacked in favor of one group,
quite often to the detriment of the other.

Couldn't disagree more.

I had to borrow a shitload of money from SLM to go to college. Most of the black people I knew there were getting government funding. I worked to pay back my loans, they didn't have to.

I took the tests to become a police officer years ago. Thanks to affirmative action I was bypassed even though I scored in the 98th percentile.

Whites have been discriminated against for the last 25 years. It's getting much worse every year.

Bury your head all you want. The truth is obvious.

Quote from gnome:

Everybody knew that already.. including blacks. Few did anything with the knowledge. Few will do so now, same as always.

Maybe they won't but they can't say that they never had a chance.

They ALWAYS had the chance. Go to school, study, get decent grades... get WELCOMED into any of a large number of colleges.

Under Affirmative Action, blacks would get preferenctial treatment into colleges with average verbal and math skills. Had to go to school and study to learn those things, same as whitey.

Quote from Landis82:

You are a complete idiot.
There are people in this country today whose parents were slaves.
Yes Landis82, he is very wrong, but there's no point in calling him an idiot.

The fact of the matter is that the ramifcations of being descendants of slaves, both internally (from the culture itself) as well as from other cultures outside of it (mainly from ignorant whites, but they are not the only ones) have been nothing short of a horror show.

Once you get these people to at least acknowledge that (whether do so on this board or not) you will start making progress ... until then, they will continue to complain while getting the choicest cuts.

Sorry about the error.

.00000000000000000000000000001 percent of todays population knew a slave.

Zero percent owned a slave or were slaves.

You are confusing your experience with that of the majority of whites ... I actually would expect better from someone who calls themself a trader.

I can only speak for my experiences.

Maybe I should complain how my grandparents and great grandparents were discriminated against when they came to America 100+ years ago.

Where are my reparations?

Where is my government handout?

"The man" kept my family down way back when. I should get everything free because of that.

Exactly

Whereas I can speak from my experiences, the experiences of many others like me, and the experiences of whites as well.

... and in regards to the rest of your post, I can garauntee you that no one is talking about what happends 100 or even 50 years ago ... they are talking about what is happening now. They are talking about what is happening in their lifetime.
