fine, but it isn't nonsense. In reality the country was founded upon and wound up at the top based on the principles and laws of individual freedom, private property, and restrained fed govt (confined to defense of both the nation and defined rights, NOT charity). if you think about it, it is sustainable over the long haul, and it will work again if we can get back to it. What doesn't make sense is attempting to spend your way out of a spending problem and the entirety of Western Civ (the vast majority of civilization on the face of this planet) is at best, stagnate, under these policies. This brings us back to your "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" line.
I've said it before and i need to reiterate: Entitlements will be the downfall of the West. They are unfair, divisive, and seemingly always - financially unsustainable.
