Those exact same Republicans were all for invading IRAQ too. Those who were opposed to invading Iraq are also opposed to bombing Syria. It's fairly consistent actually. However Obama is inconsistent to be sure!

The U.S. has a hypocritical foreign policy to be sure. The mainstream of both parties support it, however there are wings of both the Republican and Democrat parties that recognize the hypocrisy. Those Congressmen from both parties that are owned by the Defense Industry are consistent supporters of military intervention regardless whether it makes logical sense or not. There are some members of Congress that are not owned, but relatively few.
