"What do Barack Obama, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Otis Moss lll and father Michael Pfleger have in common?
How about they all have crossed paths with Trinity United Church of Christ.
Each of these people has been widely accepted at TUCC. Each has been praised at TUCC. Each has benefited by attending or being associated with TUCC with Rev. Wright perhaps getting one of the best deals with a ten-thousand-foot house in an exclusive, very white neighborhood including up to a $3 million allowance.
So the question becomes; what exactly IS TUCC and what does it teach?
This was taken directly from Trinity United Church of Christâs website in the âTalking Points section, as it was written by Barack Obamaâs mentor, Jeremiah Wright:ââ¦The vision statement of Trinity United Church of Christ is based upon the systematized liberation theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr. James Coneâs book, Black Power and Black Theology.
Here is an excerpt from that book.
âChrist is black therefore not because of some cultural or psychological need of black people, but because and only because Christ really enters into our world where the poor were despised and the black are, disclosing that he is with them enduring humiliation and pain and transforming oppressed slaves into liberating servants.
âBlack theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ⦠Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.â
TUCC is where the pastorâs page reprinted anti-Israel writings, including one column by none other than Hamas leader, Mousa Abu Marzook.
The column by the Hamas leader, Mousa Abu Marzook, asked: âWhy should any Palestinian recognise the monstrous crimes carried out by Israelâs founders and continued by its deformed modern apartheid state?â
The 2007 issue of Trumpet Magazine, which was founded in 1982 by Obamaâs church and has Wrightâs daughters serving as publisher and executive editor, says that âwhen Minister Louis Farrakhan speaks, America listensâ¦For his commitment to truth, education and leadership, we honor Minister Louis Farrakhan with the Rev. Jeremiah W. Wright Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award,â Wright goes on to say in the article. âHis depth on analysis [sic] when it comes to the racial ills of this nation is astounding and eye-opening. He brings a perspective that is helpful and honest.â
One of the things Farrakhan said that wasnât particularly uniting, helpful or honest was when he said that âwhite people are potential humans - they havenât evolved yet,â in the Philadelphia Inquirer in March 2000.
Farrakhan also said, âThey call them terrorists, I call them freedom fighters.â
Louis also said he âheard from a very reliable source who saw a 25 foot deep crater under the [New Orleansâ] levee breachâ¦It may have been blown up to destroy the black part of town and keep the white part dry.â
O course, Wrightâs wrongs are too numerous to mention here.
âWeâre going to fight for the voice of the prophetic tradition,â Moss said. âYou cannot caricature Rev. Wright. This is an attack on the collective black church.â
âYou have ministers who relate with interesting rhetoric through their personalities and hyperbole to highlight ideas and ideals,â Moss said. âThe ideas are the truth, and those are wrapped around metaphors and rhetoric. Sometimes, thatâs supposed to make you incredibly uncomfortable; sometimes, it makes you fall out on the floor and crack up laughing. Itâs really an art form when itâs done well.â
Now we have father Michael Pfleger from St. Sabina Catholic Church in Chicago come to TUCC as a guest speaker in a âserviceâ complaining that white people have culpability for the sins of their âfathersââ because of the so-called benefits white people gained through past black oppression, which mainly came about through the help of the Democratic party. Isnât guilt by skin-color affiliation racism? The British raped the Irish for hundreds of years. What should we be doing about that?
Father Michael Pfleger said this:
âI must now to address the one who says, âdonât hold me responsible for what my ancestors did.â But you have enjoyed the benefits of what your ancestors did! And unless you are ready to give up the benefits â Throw away your 401 fund! [sic] Throw away your trust fund! Throw away all the money that been put away in the company you walked into âcause your daddy and your granddaddy and your great grandaddy ââ
(screaming at the top of his lungs)
âUnless you are willing to give up the benefits, then you must be responsible for what was done in your generation! âCause you are the beneficiary of this insurance policy!
â(garbled) expose white entitlement. And supremacy, wherever it raises its head. I said before, I really donât want to make this political, because you know Iâm really very unpolitical.
âWhen Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on, I really donât believe it was put on. I really believe that she just always thought, âthis is mine. Iâm Billâs wife. Iâm white, and this is mine. I just gotta get up and step into the plate.â
âThen out of nowhere, âIâm Barack Obama!ââ
Imitating Hillaryâs response, screaming at the top of his lungs again, he continues, âAh, damn! Where did you come from? Iâm white! Iâm entitled! Thereâs a black man stealing my show!â
(mocks crying)
âShe wasnât the only one crying, there was a whole lot of white people crying!â
âIâm sorry. I donât want in any more trouble. The live-streaming just went out again.â Obama said this: As I have traveled this country, Iâve been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pflegerâs divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesnât reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause,â the statement said.
Pfleger issued his own apology: âI regret the words I chose on Sunday. These words are inconsistent with Senator Obamaâs life and message, and I am deeply sorry if they offended Senator Clinton or anyone else who saw them.â
Yea, like I readily believe the apologiesâ¦"
