Islam is both a system of government and a religion. When polled, majority of Muslims in America and Europe support the institution of sharia law over the constitution and traditional individual freedoms and liberties.
This is unacceptable and antithetical to everything western democracies supposedly cherish.

The same was true of Judaism and Christianity until reforms happened. Separation of church and state was a novel enough concept that we had to put it in writing in the late 1700s.
We had six million Muslims in this country before 9/11 and they weren't giving us too many problems. I'm not sure I'd want to live in one of their communities, and I'm not particularly keen about unrestricted immigration either. But I hate the hypocrisy and media manipulation, painting people with a broad brush and state involvement in whipping up polarization.

And cultural diasporas aren't a problem when they're small. When they get large like Europe they start exerting their true colors. Big fucking problem.
Nobody is calling for concentration camps and ovens. Trump supporters just want selective immigration, legal deportation and focused enforcement on suspected radicals inside the country. This benefits everyone and is not extrem.e. Muslims who denounce sharia and pledge their alligiance to the constitution. That's fine.

I agree that immigration can change the character of a country, and every country should have the right for open debate on the issue and to regulate accordingly.
The problem is when the press takes a half dozen incidents and extrapolates them to vilify a group of over seven million people, many of whom have been here for a long time and are casual enough about their religion to fit in pretty well.

You have this bizarrely backwards. The mainstream media are bending over backwards to avoid calling any of this what it clearly is, islamic terrorism. Trump has been roundly excoriated by the media for suggesting that our existing immigration laws be enforced, that we deport criminal immigrants and that we need to secure an open border. They started using the N word, ie nazi, when he suggested that letting in hundreds of thousands of poorly screened "refugees", ie economic migrants, from muslim countries was a bad idea.
Lefties seem to me very much like children.
Children have shelter, food, care and security provided for them.
Lefties want the state to provide food , care, shelter and security for everyone.
children don't understand money and say your mean and cruel when they don't get any.
Lefties want the government to give everybody free money and say your cruel and horrible if you oppose it.
children think people in Authority and leaders are good and wise and don't question.
Lefties think the state is good and wise and tend not to question.
children think in a bubble and everybody is the same as them and should think like them.
Lefties think everybody should be like them and think like them even though the world is extremely diverse and conflicts and arguments are inevitable.
Children are reliant on parents for comfort.
