Doubtful. I think the fact he is black will cause him to get lower numbers from Americans who still cannot get over their prejudice.
West Virginia was an excellent example.
And if McCain picks a female, I think he can move a few percent of the Hilary supporters and other females. If he picks a very conservative female, he can also placate the conservatives. if he picks a Hispanic female, then who knows? And is there possibly a Hispanic conservative female from a swing state like Florida??
Look at what Obama's race does for him from black voters.

I appreciate your honesty in recognizing the role race may play.
But I doubt Obama will fail to carry a single state that Kerry did.
Not only that, but Obama has mounted a sophisticated strategy to put Virginia, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico in play.
Moreover, I think he'll nab Ohio, which cost Kerry the election, and that anyone who is now putting Florida in McCain's column is premature at best.
But Obama doesn't need Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico to win; he only needs maybe 2 of the 6 (3 would give him an electoral lock).
Every little bit helps, I agree. I have always supported opening the OCS, ANWR and the like to responsible oil exploration. That doesn't change the fact that the Republicans are both wrong and dirty in maligning Obama's tire inflation comments, which were absolutely correct.Quote from Arnie:
Every bit helps. We are the 3rd largest producer of oil in the world. Without exploring, we really have no idea whats out there. The below if from a study from the Dept of the Interior, but is based on prices and technology that is seriously outdated, but still shows 66b to over 100b of recoverable oil.
"Supposed logic" is right; you must have supposed that was my logic, because in fact I said nothing of the sort. Also, based on your supposed logic, we should stop developing alternatives since they will only amount to a fraction of total energy usage once fully developed.
