Certainly Obama deserves some foreign policy kudos. Bush or the neo-cons never got Pakistan to crack down in a serious way. Obama came into office and day one, bombed inside Pakistan, literally day one. Within a few months not only are the Pakis fighting the Taliban, they are going at it hard. I still don't like him, but for everyone talking smack about him bowing to Saudis and being weak, under cover he is getting things done in a major way. And there is no way of describing how hard it must have been to accomplish this.

Are you sure the Pakistan army engaging the Taliban is because of Mr. Obama, or because the Taliban has pushed south out of the Swat Valley, a breach of a previous agreement with the central government, and has made the mistake of trying to engage in more open ground against a force trained to fight and manuever in this type of terrain ?

Bush authorized bombing in Pakistan too, so Obama's position is an extention of Bush's policy. There is nothing new here.

What is NEW in America's policy towards Pakistan is a REAL committment, with a total of 68,000 troops to be in Afghanistan by the end of the year - - - more than double the size of the U.S. force at the end of 2008.
Bush was a pussy when it came to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
