This tangent started from the claim that Fox was the exception to the major news networks that reported a victory for Gore. That was false, Fox made the error, too. We were not discussing who should have won the election.

One can start the timeline with Ron Paul being shouted down when he blamed the 9/11 attacks on US foreign policy and carry that through to today with either the net neutrality debate or the sudden quietness regarding Obamacare. In terms of Obamacare, with a republican control of congress, one would have had expected at least a vote to repeal the law. But in reality, republicans had always wanted Ocare. After the next election, expect a push by republicans to move Medicare to the exchanges.
