I think the obstructionist Republican congress may have had something to do with that.
Seriously flawed thinking, as usual. First of all not in my state, secondly SSI is itself a federal payout, so to call it income in the ordinary sense is quite a stretch. What about food stamps, medicare, and medicaid? We pay seniors over $2T a year (combined at all levels), or 1/8 of our GDP, to sit and do nothing yet somehow you say they are part of this great collective that makes the world go round.
There is no getting around it, and 7% of nothing is still nothing. The high earners pay the bills in this country and blowhard liberal politicians take credit by simply sitting on their asses and throwing gov't money around. Obama himself has produced pretty much nothing his whole life, too busy hitting the bong or campaign trail, then has the nerve to say the 'collective' does everything for the real achievers.
There is no such thing as a collective mechanism. Real work and real wealth comes down to the efforts of individuals. I've seen it close up many times, been part of many gov't contracts... and the waste is incredible. Solyndra anyone?
No, some highways were built, but mostly it was typical gov't waste. Infrastructure was a fairly small part of stimulus, Obama was more interested in raising medicaid -which is why you don't see much new infrastructure. Hell Obama had his way with that crap, you have no idea what you are talking about.

*Remembering his campaign promise... to "fundamentally transform America". Seems this is the only promise he's kept.
so why doesn't brain washed/brain dead Obama start emphasizing infrastructure and re-regulation? Ans: he's not really about prosperity and the American dream, he's about bringing ghetto healthcare up and working class healthcare down until there is a "level playing field"... you know, that sort of thing that "progressives" are into.
