Obama Howls at the Moon

Read, "Deflation makes politicians look bad (worse)".[/quote]

I'm not sure I agree with that. The general consumer base enjoys when prices fall. Deflation is part of the natural business cycle. Inflation pisses people off and makes politicians look bad. Especially hidden inflation - because the local population knows it's there but government denies it's existence.

No, you don't need complete support. The problem is that you never bother to read or understand the fine print. That is, you just say something like "deflation is bad".
Lol, I'm not going to read all that drivel. Even Hayek didn't want deflation.

obviously you all know its a balancing act...

if we think that a car will be 10% cheaper in 3 months we might wait to buy the car.
but if we think the drop may be temporary we will buy it now.

the question that comes about with govt interference is always whose ox gets gored.

and we are seeing that more and more the people who don't own the politicans, lose.

Which is why the founders were so fearful of a powerful central govt. remember the acts of confederacy were apparently too weak. The second one worked for a long time... but it started down hill with direct election of senators, the private central bank and the income tax.

Many points to debate, but if we think about what goes on during deflation and who takes the heat... I say politicians look worse during deflation... which is why they spare no effort nor expense to prevent it.

Of course rapid inflation is bad, but we've lived with slow, insidious inflation since the creation of the Fed... which why a movie ticket used to be a quarter, now it's a sawbuck. Most of us seem complacent about that, though we shouldn't be.

Neither does Alberta have a surplus.
not anymore, like a parasite looking for a host, more and more liberals like you are moving into the rich province, after they bankrupted ontario and quebec, and now they are changing their ways.

Alberta has a $1.4B budget surplus in 2014. The first one in 5 years.
