The Most Ridiculous Republican Responses To The State Of The Union

The State of the Union address is an occasion for the president to lay out his goals before Congress and the American people. With a Democratic president, you can count on a spirited Republican rebuttal.

Lawmakers who have given the Republican response include Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.) and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.).

This year's Republican star, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), will be giving the party's response immediately after President Barack Obama's speech.

HuffPost Live compiled the funniest and most ridiculous moments from past Republican State of the Union responses.

Watch the video above.

Joni Ernst looked almost life like in her response to the SOTU. Calling it less than inspiring is as kind as I can be. Jesus, these people are pathetic. Show some emotion for Christ's sake.

Agree. I do find it hilarious that moonbats like Spike rush out to point out how bad responses were to the SOTU, but neglect to point out how uninspiring the actual SOTU was itself. Of course, they're just driving their narrative.

John Boehner's Priceless Reactions To Obama's State Of The Union.

If there's one thing John Boehner does well, it's looking like he wants to mute President Obama's State of the Union address. The Speaker of the House's reactions to Obama were so great in 2014 that HuffPost Live put them all together in one video, and since Boehner is just so much fun to watch, we went for round two in 2015.

Check out the video above for the latest installment of Boehner's greatest hits, and relive the 2014 edition below.

Watch President Obama Bask In Applause At The 2015 State Of The Union

President Barack Obama delivered his seventh State of the Union address to the American people Tuesday. He called for better support for America's middle class, advocated for more paid time off for parents and vowed to continue pursuing the closure of Guantanamo Bay. He also spent a significant portion of his time listening to people clap for him.

The rounds of applause at the State of the Union have become increasingly ceremonial, leading to calls to end the excessive "clap count." Still, members of Congress just couldn't help themselves Tuesday, and it looked like the commander-in-chief really loves the sweet sound of success conveyed by clapping hands.

Check out the video above to watch Obama soak up the support in true presidential style.

Are there any right-wingers who don't suffer from dyspepsia?

Republicans are trying too hard to be, of the people. That's the leftist game and the repubs need to give that up. Republicans try to hard to say, we was once poor too. Some of our members even have tits. Some, we swear to God, are black. Nobody gives a shit about that except the leftist media. it's a game they've been baited into and cannot win. Put a real leader out there, with a real message that has some real substance. Do that, and the people will respond regardless of race or gender. Until then the Oval Office will stay Dem.

That's right CO. All of America is waiting for the one Republican leader who will fly over the cuckoo's nest instead of in it. Until then responses like this deserve to be ridiculed.

Mitt Romney Praises Joni Ernst For GOP Response To State Of The Union

Former Massachusetts governor and 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney (R) praised Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) for her GOP response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address on Tuesday.

Romney called Ernst's speech "concise, compelling, clear" in a tweet posted early Wednesday.

In her speech, Ernst challenged Obama on health care, the Islamic State and the Keystone XL pipeline, among other things.

Romney stumped for Ernst, who was elected to the Senate in November, in the lead-up to the 2014 midterm elections.

.

Except that Paul gave a good response, and you seem to want to avoid discussing that one. Or the joke the actual SOTU was, in of itself.
