As the debate heats up over the unfolding crisis in Iraq, one German newspaper took a decidedly pointed approach to things in its Friday front page.
Die Tageszeitung ran the famous "Mission Accomplished" picture of George W. Bush, but replaced Bush with Shaker Wahib, head of ISIS, the militant group currently running roughshod through Iraq. The message: this is what Bush wrought.

I'm not liking the airstrikes option. These bastards don't care about civilian life so you know they're going to hide behind civilians.
Not to worry. The building is engulfed in flames and Obama is just now getting estimates on fire suppression systems.
I know that you, and frankly most people on the left and right want there to be a diplomatic solution to this. There isn't. There is all out war taking on this terrorist threat head on. That involves all the ugliness of a REAL war. No more building schools and indoor plumbing. No more concern for collateral damage. Just killing, killing, and more killing until the need for it is gone. Door number two is doing what we've been doing and accepting the consequences, which is an ever growing situation of worldwide violence and chaos. There is no door number three, no matter how bad you or anyone else wants a door number three, there just isn't.
I think you may be in panic mode over this, I have no idea why you think I believe in a diplomatic solution to crazy. (Yes, I have argued in the past that not all Muslims are crazy; one billion is a very large number; the fact that Muslims are fighting ISIS, and asking for Iranian and our help, proves it.) A coalition of forces is forming to beat these religious nuts down. Based on what I've been reading this morning about their military capabilities, it's very doable.
I don't think a diplomatic solution is crazy at all. Diplomacy is always preferable to war. What I'm saying is that there is no hope for a diplomatic solution in this case. Just who it that we'll be negotiating with? Just who is in charge over there? Who has the final word? Do they have any interest in a just peace for all? Are the people we're negotiating with rational at all?
Please don't name some government official. They have no government.
