What if the gov one day decides that something you do or own is something they no longer wish you to do or own, even though it affects no one? What if you are made an outlaw for a simple belief (as in some religious powers rising in other parts of the world)? There are other types of examples. Such occurrences have occurred repeatedly (and occur regularly) throughout history. Do you think we are immune? It doesn't hurt to distrust gov just a little when they demonstrate an insatiable desire for more power and control over our lives.
I know the answer you would give is the voting booth. My answer to that is that I'm increasingly under the belief that a large part of the voting public has been bought off by the gov through entitlements. Of course, most of our politicians have been bought off, too.

I have no quarrel with you wjk. I understand where you are coming from.
I have some bad news.
What we are going thru now is the culmination of plans hatched long before any of us were born. All we can do is prepare.
You are a thoughtful fellow, and you have found the truth. Keep learning to trade, and teach your family. Get as much money as you can, then convert it into tangible assets, if you have time.
The firepower behind today's military is beyond the ability to fight. If I become tomorrow's Jew, I will have to be ready to get out. You should do the same.
