Obama denies any video showing Michelle 'whitey' rant...

She fashions herself a strong, independent, African American woman who openly speaks her mind and backs down from no one. She uses a technique of voice tone, digging in, and closure statements to make her points. A statement like, "Well we can agree to disagree" delivered tersely when she can't get her way on a topic is the norm. The sanitary tour that she is on now is attempting to paint a different image from what she really is. Make no mistake, she is the pants wearer in that house.

And while she IS carrying a chip on her shoulder, I'm not sure that angry is the right word to describe it. A lot of their (the hubby and her) speech is designed to cause crowd ire and rabble rouse. In some cases I'd almost say to, "motivate to be angry." In a simplistic explaination, it's a show! It's also sort of why they both get caught making statements that are just not true. They were made in the heat of the presentation moment to tweak the core. They know that there are handlers tasked with damage control should things need. :)

The central issue? Gee, they are both white, male, Catholic, and conservative judges.

Why would white be the central issue?

Perhaps to someone who only focuses on race, race would be the central issue.

Maybe you focus solely on race...which would make you a racist.

If Obama were 72 years old, would they focus on his age?

The problem with the right wing is that they don't think they can beat Obama on the issues...so they go for the fear card of race, religion, etc.

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Reuters) - Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama said on Friday he expects Republicans to highlight the fact that he is black as part of an effort to make voters afraid of him.

"It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy," Obama told a fundraiser in Jacksonville, Florida. "We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid.

"They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?"

He said he was also set for Republicans to say "he's got a feisty wife," in trying to attack his wife Michelle.

"We know the strategy because they've already shown their cards. Ultimately I think the American people recognize that old stuff hasn't moved us forward. That old stuff just divides us," he said.

Obama, born to a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya, has cast himself as a candidate who can bridge divides within the country, including those involving race.

It has been rare for him to bring up the topic during his presidential bid. In March he gave a widely praised speech on the subject after receiving criticism over racially charged comments by his longtime pastor.

Obama, who faces Republican John McCain in the November election, would be the first black U.S. president.
 
Funny but I hear Obama and his supporters bring up race 10x the number of times as his opponents.

He knows darn well his race is barely a ripple among the electorate. White conservatives have voted in the past for Keyes, Watts and Steele. Many others would relish the chance to vote for Rice, Powell or Thomas. Republican whites avidly read and listen to political commentary by guys named Sowell and Elder, yet poor Barry will be stained by the racist GOP.

Considering he's a half black who barely knew his black father, raised by whites in a series of zero black locations-it's obviously him who chose to emphasize just one half his heritage. He's as divisive as Spike Lee. Any rational person can see this guy has some very real and scary demons. As we've seen in the past, the Oval Office isn't the place for Presidents use as a couch in a therapist office.

George HW Bush was a star baseball player in college, a WW II fighter pilot who was shot down over the pacific, started his own oil field service company in Texas, ran the CIA and was VP of the United States to the best president in my lifetime.

Obama was a "community organizer", whatever that means, ran errands for Tony Rezko and has spent barely enough time in the Senate to find his office.

Bush might not have been John Wayne but he was no wuss.

Just in case there are a few newer readers who don't yet recognize LoZZZer's arch-troll status, we're talking about a supposed <i>trader</i> who claims he'd turn down 12-1 odds on a coin flip (50% chance of losing $100 / 50% chance of winning $1,200), because that would be 'gambling'.
