Quote from Almond_Dragoon:
Hmmm, if the government had never gotten involved.
Abolition of slavery would have never occured. ---That was an executive order.
Voting rights act of 1964--Executive order.
Brown vs Board of Education--Executive order.
Desegregation of Little Rock--Executive order.
Desegregation of University of Alabama--Executive order.
"The people" have NEVER voted for a level playing field. Government has ALWAYS had to get involved.
If "the people" were not inherently xenophobic, then there would be no need for "Affirmative Action"

I wonder why we very rarely see frank and open discussions about the fact that over the past 40 or so years the American Black community has had such a harder time (as compared to before the early 60s) with frightening statistics like 60%++ of babies born out of wedlock, men abandoning their families left and right, ~70% of people in prison being black (or at least non-white), gang activity, terribly violent lyrics in many popular songs, etc.Quote from Almond_Dragoon:

Don't get me wrong: I really sympathize and wonder how we can all address this bad situation better. Imo, we all need to keep striving towards a healthy and happy, race-blind, religion-blind, gender-blind society, composed of successful, balanced, fulfilled indivisuals.
Could it be that both the Government and some part of our culture (liberal hard left) have created a group that is encouraged to depend on the welfare state for their survival and think that their mistakes are not their own, someone else is always at fault, eg, slavery, "rich white people", etc?
Why is it that tremendously successful and patriotic black Americans like Bill Cosby, Colin Powell, Condi Rice, Clarence Thomas, Juan Williams, et al, are treated like traitors in that community, ostensibly because they don't espouse this sick mentality and philosophy?
Just who/what/why is making the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton wealthy and powerful as they are busy "solving the problem"? Do they REALLY want the "problem" solved?
Who is telling the American public that voting against this extremely liberal and almost totally inexperienced, but supremely presentable and perfectly capable of reading other people's smart words on a teleprompter, black American, with very questionable ties to characters who are not shy expressing (to great applause) their anti-American and anti-white racist views openly, is "being a racist"?
Just wondering.
As a matter of fact, as we all know, the race card has been played very strongly by both Democratic factions thoughout the primaries: both Clinton and Obama, not to mention their surrogates used it extensively. My perspective here is that Obama's candidacy affords us the opportunity to re-examine this important American issue with fresh information. For example, do you, and other liberals, condone black liberation theology?Quote from ZZZzzzzzzz:
Kinda surprised that you are focusing on race...but then again, that is going to be the fear card of white republicans.

Race relations are extremely important in this day and age in this country, and questions about the candidates' related attitudes are totally legitimate, actually mandatory.Quote from ZZZzzzzzzz:
Do we agree that the race card is wrong regardless of who plays it?
So what is your defense of playing the race card?
Why not just sing the praises of John McBush?

I support American theology too.Quote from ZZZzzzzzzz:
I support American liberation "theology" which includes all Americans of all religions, even atheists.
I don't think about what color they are.
Obviously you do...as you are throwing out divisive talk of race.
