Leftists Throw Weepy Tantrum After Conservatives Question Obama's Tears. Well, Cry Me a Damn River.
So, the left is fighting mad at
anyone who had the temerity to suggest that The Messiah’s tears were insincere in any way. After President Obama broke out the lachrymosa, your humble author suggested that Obama was crying tears of calculated frustration; Andrea Tantaros of Fox News hilariously suggested that Obama had smeared raw onion on his fingers to generate the tears; John Nolte of Breitbart mocked Obama’s weepfest; so did Jim Geraghty of
National Review.
The left huffed and puffed.
Which was always the plan. That is, in fact, why Obama cried: so that they could play a simple game of rope-a-dope. Step One: Obama cries, to demonstrate that he is a kind and generous human being with the sensitivity of a shimmering angel, while you who oppose him do not cry because you are callous. Step Two: Political commentators assert, correctly, that Obama is a politician, and that his Display Of Deep Feeling™ seems orchestrated, calculated to divide. Step Three: Leftists burst into tears themselves over the apparent callousness of the evil conservatives who refuse to acknowledge the Mother Teresa-like heart beating in the godlike chest of The One.
Well, cry me a damn river.
The cynicism here is rather breathtaking. Larry Wilmore, the second Unfunniest Human on Comedy Central, raged, “The guy cries about dead children and you’ve got notes?...Oh, stop it. If Obama cried over everything, Fox News wouldn’t even call itself Fox News anymore, they’d call it ‘The Obama is a Weeping Queer Channel.’” Wilmore’s conqueror in the Unfunniest Human on Comedy Central competition, Trevor Noah, chimed in, “No matter how opposed to Obama’s policies people may be or how cynical their politics they have to at least acknowledge and respect the raw authenticity of that emotion…Are you f***ing kidding me?!”
First off, Obama has cried at least 13 times publicly. Nobody has called him a “Weeping Queer.” Second off, Comedy Central’s starry-eyed belief in political sincerity somehow wears away when they’re not busy verbally pleasuring the commander-in-chief. Take, for example, this report by Jon Stewart circa 2011, with Samantha Bee openly mocking the Republicans’ supposed strategy of crying:
(click link below for media - ET site messed up at present and unable to post it)
Here’s Bee: “The key, Jon, is their leader, John Boehner. That man can go from zero to snot in 6.4 seconds. Yes, the Republicans are in the capable hands of Captain Blubberpants.” Stewart asks Bee about Republican policies; Bee fakes crying, then breaks character when Stewart gives in, stating, “Yes, see, it’s that easy. You’re winning the argument, I start crying, boom, you fold. Welcome to the John Boehner 2012 Congress…Read it and weep.”
Or how about this one,
from just last year, of Stewart mocking Boehner thusly for crying after passing a bill with Obama: “Look at this man! It’s unbelievable! Imagine if normal people reacted this way to the dutiful executing of basic occupational tasks.”
You see? When Republicans cry, it’s because they’re insincere bamboozlers or nuts. When Democrats do, it’s because they weep the tears of Baby Jesus. And if you don’t weep along, you’re a Satanic creature incapable of all human emotion.
The only sincere feeling for which I’ll give leftists credit on this score is their wretched, vile hatred for anyone who disagrees with them.
