I think both republicans and democrats realize it was a shit half ass deal. It's just like trading. Whenever you want to get something you have to give something else up. Medicare for all, cradle to grave. Then it's no longer the employers problem. Medicare taxes go sky high. But you know now what you are paying for private insurance, and it is not cheap. Lines, and waiting lists and less than optimal care is what you get, but what you give up is this endless debate about who is going to pay.Quote from abducens:
Marginal health insurance for family of 2 with a 3000 ded is about 12k per year. If you are lucky you may pay 25% of the cost.
For an employer that is paying about 15 $ an hour its a no brainer to pay the fine and allow employees maybe 4k subsidy and send them to the govt pools, they are saving 50% of their cost.
If the govt can offer the same plans for 7k great but if their plans are 10k there is going to be a big mess.
I'm over it, but I have enough things to bitch about when it comes to money. Universal one payer, and you can get on with the things that make you money, and let women and mothers bitch about the service.
