Quote from SWhiting:
Alright, the long & short of it is this: WE DON'T NEED TO CUT TAXES.
Our tax rates are the absolute lowest of ALL industrailized nations. We need to focus on BALANCING the BUDGET.
It is so unfortunate for our nation that Obama & McCain have to resort to 'tax cutting' to win this election. It is time for our leaders to step it up, a la Jimmy Carter, and inform the American public that DEFICIT SPENDING is a TAX INCREASE.
On a personal note: I made 159K last year; paid 28.7K in taxes (Federal). I live in TN which has no State income tax (of course, look where we are vis-a-vis National std. of living).
In any event, the 18% or so that I paid is diddly-squat to other industrailized nations. (I paid $1,200 in property tax on 125 acres).
Stop crying about taxes; there are far more important issues in life.
one thing that makes america what it is (or was), is business freedom, including lower corporate taxes, if they increase those, you will see a massive outflow of wealth from this country, wealthy people are not stupid like the average person, they're not patriots, they don't feel entitled to a fucking country for no reason, if they're gonna lose money for some idiot who lives in nowhere land in some ghetto neighborhood, and his existence serves no other purpose than to daydream about becoming a rapper, they're gonna want out of this system
why don't you talk about cutting useless expenses, like getting rid of 6 worthless people searching a business card for signs of printed explosive ink, what is the TSA other than a sign that some suffer from extensive paranoia
bush screwed business freedom to a degree and created market monopolies, by enacting the patriot act, I want to see how obama is going make matters worse by enforcing more rules and regulations, yes that is the way to do it, add more rules, didn't work, even more rules, basically rules here, rules there, rules everywhere, I'm sure it'll work out perfectly
