I don't have the stats on Medicare,but SS has taken in more then it has spent and presidents have been borrowing from the surpluses for years

This is comical your own artical said 2.1 trillion over 10 years for the war and that was the high end estimate, now you are saying 1.3 trillion of mandatory spending into social security and medicaid, this year alone, and you are trying to blame the deficit on bush...... you are not very bright are you?

Plus there is another 1.3 trillion of what your estimates call discretionary spending..... well if it is discretionary how bout you quit spending you jackass?


Lets give you the benefit of the doubt, and on top of the war for 210 billion (high end estimate, also something the majority of dems voted for) i will give you 200 billion for the bush tax cuts, where does the other 1.1 trillion Obama is spending come from? The same 1.1 trillion which happens to be twice the size of bush's biggest deficit.

SS currently has a 2.5 trillion dollar balance and brought in 700 billion this year.Does Bushes wars and tax cuts have 2.5 trillion dollar surpluses ?

To be fair Hello, there is a $300B drop in revenues, but you are correct there is still a $700B increase in the deficit over bush that is not paid for.

This discussion with ..... is interesting itself. I do not think he represents the smarter liberals, but he does act just like an average democrat. The smarter liberals know damn well what they are doing, they are making the social welfare so hopelessly large and debt ridden that there will be no room for anything but their crap in the future. Social handouts are a ratchet, they just went up $500B suddenly, but if you proposed taking us back to just 2008 levels you would be called a mean racist who balances the budget on the 'backs of the poor'.

fact: Medicaid jumped up 43% in just two years under Obama, the recession was used as an excuse to throw it into stimulus. It is not paid for and it was not part of health care reform. It has not been brought back down, meaning it was not a one time stimulus.

My response: But the wars and 2003 tax cuts do not give one an excuse to compound the problem by adding $500B in unpaid for social mandatory spending. Complaining about Bush's deficit of $455B in 2008 and then responding by tripling it makes no sense at all. The recession is over, real stimulus projects, if such things exist, amount to far far less than the $700 new hole in the 2010 budget. There is no excuse for this new insanely higher deficit, medicare is not economically productive.
