Obama agenda: Tax cuts, spending

Quote from Landis82:

"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America - I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you - we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can't solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it's been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years - block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand."

Any of the last 43 presidents could have givin this speech. The words are pure rhetoric. This speech has no subject only actions.
You are amoung the gullible.
All he is saying to this simple minded audience is make sure you elect me to a second term.

not bashing OB here...just noticing how he is toning down all the swift and 'easy' changes he was going to enact once he got in...for instance...the popular ' tax the rich theme' that got all those working man and low income/middle income votes has not been heard now since he won the election....looks to me like an advisor may have let him know that with the credit crisis the way it is, a tax on the 'rich' would be the nail in the coffin

Duh.
Please show me a Presidential acceptance speech that isn't full of rhetoric.
Are you that naive?
:D

Quote from Landis82:

You mean Obama never said anything about a middle-class tax cut in the Fall?

Hmmmmm . . . we must be on two totally different planets.

"They were especially critical of a proposed $3,000 tax credit for companies that hire or retrain workers."

he was going to tax companies making 250k or more...now he's giving them breaks
