Oanda's API

I am new to Oanda and looking to run some price-action automation on the majors and metals. I would appreciate any info regarding the API, specifically, any issues, bottlenecks, etc. I am averaging $5mm volume a month (all-in), so I'd like to hear from users before shelling out the monthly fee.
 
I'm using the net version. There have been problems in the past, but the last few versions are remarkably painless.

They also have a FIX server now, which is relativly new, can't comment on its reliablity tho.
