is there a way to interface the oanda platform without using the expensive API (usd 600/month) provided by Oanda ?
Any software which could control the https java applet ?

In fact the 600 fee is reduced if you trade but I do not like the idea of running fees while I decide to make a break...
 
You might be able to use Windows Scripting Host or something similar (Perl?) to automate some basic functions, but if you are looking for tradestation-like automated mechanical trading you will probably be disappointed.
