They're not exactly 'bad' as you can still make money with them but for scalpers it's harder work and usually for less profit.
Traders who, unlike scalpers, often target 50, 100, 200 pips aren't affected so much by Oanda's excessive widening of spreads, slippage, or quote manipulation, and they probably don't notice it as much as a scalper does.

Just as a note, spread-widening on MB Trading or Hotspot are as wide and often wider than on Oanda. Altho it gets down to the usual spreads faster on these platforms.
