NZ Prime Minister has big bowl of stupid for breakfast

"No wonder their dollar tanked after their election."

She was appointed on 26th October where the crosshairs are after a protracted coalition negotiation. The general election was 23 September 2017. Uncertainty affected the market.

On the 18th October it became clear that a narrow margin coalition had been formed but anyone who understands parliamentary democracies knows that you wait until the fat lady sings (thin/normal in this case) and the PM is appointed (26th). Dates get confused as NZ is a day ahead etc.

So a significant mischaracterisation by the clearly non-trader Treefrog.

And yes, I called her Lucinda when her name Jacinda or something like that. You might google around a little and find out. That could be your chance to be right about something minor- which we know is important to you.

Sorry but no. As usual when I post something you have a small penis reaction and start googling around to try to be right about something.

The NZ dollar is clearly down. It stumbled bigtime after the election and went into what you call "uncertainty." And that is correct. It created uncertainty about which parties could put a coalition together- with the fear that it might end out with a lefty government- which it did- with someone like the lefty Lucinda as PM- which it did. And after the gyrations of forming a government and installing her as PM for real, the NZ dollar took another hit. It was a one/two hit. First the election results told them that the loons in loon parties were holding too much power so that was a hit on their dollar, and then another hit as they had to wait to find out which specific loon would become PM. also, some important shifts in the central bank policy related to the loons taking power.

Keep googling around though. We will find you something for you to be right about. I know that you think you are up on Mount Olympus on this topic as usual. You are not. You are just beating your gums to try to compensate for small hands.

Took you a while so we know who was googling little tardpole and as usual you don't have a clue what you are looking at. I used to work in Wellington and own a house there so I'm a bit ahead of you on monitoring the news.

Today on Olympus we are having chicken dinner (my actual dinner bought last night).

Oh, I got the up on Mount Olympus factor that you are promoting.

Let me know when the New Zealand dollar is back above either the election date or the date Jacindra became PM. You can pick either one. Then we will go from there, okay Cowboy?

Maybe your Secret Batman Decoder ring that comes from your New Zealand connections can go back and make the data other than what it is.

You do/used to live in the US too and do not fail to let us know that you "are a bit ahead of us in monitoring the news" there too. You are not. You are an insecure guy looking to find a circle of people who think you are smart and that you are above the rest of the peasants here. In reality, you put your pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us.

Good job diverting the topic though and turning it into a chance for you to tell us how superior your knowledge is....typical post for you. For the rest of you who were not successfully diverted, the original post of mine took a shot at the new NZ Prime minister while noting that - not surprisingly- she and her ilk have caused the NZ dollar to go tank. I stand by that. If the lefties had not taken over it not be thus.

I have been around a lot, I'm interested in the world. And I buy property in nice places. :)

You understand Cons and Dems and you think other political systems are easy matches for your cartoon brain grasp. So.. seeing as Arden is supporting the 'Kiwi First' anti-immigration agenda kicked off by the previous government last April one might think the market is.. Well who knows what your remaining brain cell thinks.

I see.

How you coming along with that data showing the nz dollar being up since the election and new pm being installed?

Might need to recharge your Batman Decoder Ring instead of trying to crabwalk over to other topics where you think you have a better chance of being right.

Correlation/causation... It did go up after she was installed. Little bit.

Successful western parliamentary democracies are not quite the personality cult the US is. The anti-immigration policies may help Auckland which is over-cooked but are likely bad for farming and other cities/industries. Personally I'd have set a geographical restriction for x years on new visa holders.

NZ dollar value is far more strongly connected to it's major partner countries than internal politics.

Bring up a NZD/USD 6N chart, load a few years of daily data and look left, you will see.

Heh, up "a little bit." As in "compared to a couple days before" or something because her installation was already baked in to the numbers.

But "up a little bit" compared to before the election or before it was clear she was going to be chosen as PM? Ahhh, noooo. That argument is not going to work is it? Not by a long shot.

You don't understand because you don't look. You are obviously not a trader who understands the drivers of the NZ economy.

Who really gives a shit who the PM of NZ is as NZ has been a stable producer either way for a long time. You try to link the PM with a 'tanking' NZ dollar to point score because you think she was dissing dotard Trump who mixed her up with the Trudeau's wife?... Anyone who actually trades currencies please explain to him.

The interesting comment was this.

"More brutal still was her response when asked by the New Zealand Herald, “What was your abiding impression of Donald Trump in the few conversations you had with him?”

Ardern: “He is consistent. He is the same person that you see behind the scenes as he is in the public or through the media.”
"
Confirmation he is not really smarter in private, it is not an act.
