NYT: FBI raids Trump lawyer's office

I'm sure all right wingers have crossed out the words "Satan" and "devil" in their bibles and have written in "Hillary."

These people are really obsessed with her.

You remember a year ago or whenever it was, Hillary announced that she was thinking of becoming a Methodist minister?

Howz that coming along? Looks like her plans there are delayed until she completes her Worldwide Hate and Bitterness Tour helping people to realize that it is always too early to forgive, accept, and move on in life. You want to take it to the grave with you.

Yeh, feel the Light!!!

You should see Slartibartfast's Hilary picture collection from when she was, what, eight years old. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/hillary.303826/page-35#post-4563510 Hillary provides a lot of material to investigate. As the great polarizer, it is no wonder her opponents will go to the ends of the Earth to watch her fall.

When you're ready, let's talk about Trump Obsession Syndrome (TOS).

The biggest abuser of the attorney client privilege game is Hillary Rodham Clinton. When Cheryl Mills - who worked in regular staff capacity for Hillary- was called to be interviewed by the FBI, Hillary suddenly declared her as her attorney representing her before the FBI.

And then, you will recall that Clinton/Podesta/DNC gave the money for gps/fusion/british and russian spies to her attorney and had the attorney hire the fusion/spy people- passing it through the attorney to be able to allege attorney client privilege when investigated. More to come on that little scheme. It was also a campaign law violation because she and the dnc hid campaign opposition research expenditures by reporting them as "legal expenses" just because they passed through the lawyer. Don't be so sure that that issue is done and gone.

Let us know how that case turns out

Damn, choked on my Merlot reading that......lol.

This will all become false and tainted evidence on any attempt to take it to trial. But Mueller got what he wants, a chance to look for future direction as to who to harass next, keeping the narritave going.

I have no idea what Cohen might have done and have no view on how it will go on him. I was merely correcting your understanding of attorney-client privilege there.

As I said in the first part of my post, you would approach it in a binary manner and you proceeded to do that by My point stands regardless of what he may or may not be convicted of.

You need to return to your day job of putting caps on toothpaste where all you need to determine is whether the cap is on or off.

I wonder what kind of charges will get him to break client privilege.

He does not have the power to waive it. And any "legal fruits" from that poison tree are inadmissable. The privilege is there for the benefit of the client- not his attorney- although the attorney benefits from it by not becoming part of every case he/she handles and other reasons. If I go see an attorney because I am accused of running a meth lab and I completely and totally discuss everything that I have actually done, my attorney does not get the authority to testify against me or cooperate with the government against me just because they found child porn on his computers and now think they can get him to rat on me.
Refer to the Constitution and related cases for more on this.

It gets complicated when you are doing other business with your attorney. If you legally can parse out the other activities from communications about the defense or involvement in some other case, it is a tough row to hoe but possible. But you still have to stay out of the other communications with the client about legal matters.

Cohen can waive attorney client privilege between himself and his own attorney representing him for whatever he is accused of. (Let's guess perjury. It's all the rage these days with Mueller). But he can't waive Trump's right where it involves Cohen. If you follow that.

Also, depends on what your last name is. As I cited in two instances above, Hillary just cried "attorney client privilege" and told the DOJ to buzz off on anything and everything involving that attorney and they loved it. But she is a Clinton and in that instance the DOJ was looking for reasons to NOT BE ABLE to find any crimes. Big difference.

The beauty here is Trump fires NY AG Preet Bharara, appoints a republican, and then his appointment goes in dry on Trump's lawyer with a door busting seizure.

For those not paying attention, Trump can't pardon charges brought on by NY AG.
