NYSE & Nasdaq

I wanted to hear from traders that trade both NYSE and Nasdaq stocks on an intraday basis if they have noticed if trading Nasdaq or NYSE has become either more difficult or more easy.

I trade NYSE only, and sometimes i have the feeling that maybe trading Nasdaq is starting to become easier now.
 
I have been trading NYSE intraday since I started (about 8 years ago). It now takes me a month to make what I used to make in a week. With decimalization and the lack of momentum, it's alot harder to make money.

The cash is still there, but you must have SOLID discipline. You must accept the fact that small gains are better than no gains. Consistency is so important. It adds up at the end of the month. And when it's time for serious cash to be made, you will have the proper technique, mind set, and discipline to recognize and take advantage.

This is the way the market is. Some times it easy to make alot of money, and sometimes you really have to grind to make a little.
 
I wonder if you trade Nasdaq stocks also as i mentioned i hear here and there that some of the Nasdaq traders are doing better now then prior months.

well said!!!!!!! I voted for nyse because of many reasons, but a couple come to mind
1) 1 person controls 90% or more of the price action as opposed to many axes/shitloads of desperate market makers in otc stocks.
2) The transparancy of OTC secutities is very clouded, all you have to do is look at your fuctionality of your software and see how many "cut and hide" or similar cat and mouse type keys are available for otc stocks.

I trade both everyday, and the difficulty gap between the two has narrowed, but still find nyse still easier.

For reply i was wondering what people that trde both market think of it more then the people trading One of them, since i trade only NYSE i can't comment on Nasdaq other then what i hear of know from the structures of the markets.

It is interesting to hear that the gap between the two has narrowed. That has been my impression and the reason why i want to learn a little more of nasdaq.

i tend to swing naz, and work NYSE intraday. works for me. often.
 
I trade both, but more nas than nyse. I voted for nas, but it depends on how you define tradable. I like to know that I will get an instant fill if I lift the offer or hit the bid. I also like to know that the quotes I am looking at are real and that I will be filled at the price I see. I also like to be able to cancel my order instantly if needs be without the specialist being able to fill me when he sees I want to cancel (might not be legal, but it happens regularly). Nasdaq is far superior in these respects.

On the other hand, I see posts here that complain about moving size on some Nasdaq stocks. I usually enter and exit my trades 100 to 300 shares at a time, so even if I end up with a 5,000 share position, liquidity usually isn't a problem.

That being said, I make money on both - NYSE is just a lot more frustrating for me. I would rather concentrate on my trading and know where I can get fills rather than hoping the spec will find it in his heart to give me a fill. You can make money trading either though (but you have to accept the differences, and adapt a little).
