Old topic but...7 series Nvidia cards are the old generation, 9 series is the new one that's a lot more power efficient. If roberk bought a 760 instead of a 970 and paid MORE then that was a terrible deal as the card is worse in every aspect.
These are all gaming cards, you don't need these for Windows Aero (overkill) and charts don't benefit from fast GPUs at all. If you need a lot of monitors then just get 2 GTX 960s and you should be able to connect 6 monitors minimum. They don't draw much power and the fans don't spin in 2D operation as they don't require cooling (I like this selling point).
I realize the 960 was not out while the topic was started, the current situation is quite different.
