Very good notes,
@Laissez Faire. I looked up nodoji on the forum when you mentioned him last week. He no longer posts here?
NoDoji was/is a lady called Donna. Heated arguments and trolls is nothing new to ET. I seem to recall that she left a few times or took some longer breaks, but usually checking back in after a while. Sadly, this time it seems like she left for good, unless she registered under a new handle.
Plenty of good posters who left this site or stopped and turned back at the front door before even entering.
NoDoji mostly focused on CL if I recall correctly and would only trade ES sporadically. I know she was more of a counter-trend trader starting out, but improved greatly when she started trading more with the trend. The reason I mentioned her posts is because she was greatly into Al Brooks and seemed to have mastered that style of trading. Also, you can't go wrong with her recommended back-testing approach.
By the way - since you're just starting out you may consider the choice of instrument. Personally, I think ES is fine, but a lot of people would say that NQ or even YM is a better trading instrument. I think that was more relevant in the past when the volatility and nominal index values were much lower. These days ES is a very good instrument to day trade, but it
is an instrument that back-fills/retraces a lot, so the trader looking to trade ES needs to understand and exploit that.
NQ generally moves a bit more and have more momentum, but the speed of the moves can make it harder to trade, too.
