Nuclear Fail by Obama - Russian bombers in CA

Russian Bombers are Flying Along California Coast.

1. This should be proof positive to every leftist in Hollywood and Silicon Valley that putting democrats and leftists in charge of our national security is an absolutely monumentally stupid thing to do. You don't get peace through a vacuum of leadership and weakness.

2. Should we not give a warning and then shoot these planes down as soon as they hit our airspace?

what the hell is wrong with out military and our commander in chief.
how do they know if these bastards are not going for a surprise nuking of California?
Tell them right now the next one in our airspace gets shot down.
And tell them they can do the same to ours if we go over their airspace.

The Associated Press reported Monday that Gen. Herbert Carlisle, Commander of United States Air Forces in the Pacific, acknowledged a significant increase in the activities by Russian long-range strategic aircraft flying along the California coast.
There was no comment about whether the aircraft were nuclear capable, but it has not been since the Cold War ended in the early 1990s that Russian patrols have skirted the West Coast and California.
Gen. Herbert J. "Hawk" Carlisle is the Commander of Pacific Air Forces; Air Component Commander for U.S. Pacific Command; and Executive Director, Pacific Air Combat Operations Staff, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. As the PACAF, he is responsible for Air Force activities spread over half the globe in a command that supports 45,000 Airmen serving principally in Japan, Korea, Hawaii, Alaska and Guam.
Speaking Monday, May 5th at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a bipartisan Washington DC think tank, General Carlisle said there had been long-range Russian air patrols to the coast of California and a circumnavigation of the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam. He noted that a U.S. F-15 fighter jet intercepted a Russian strategic bomber that had flown to Guam.
General Carlisle linked the increased activity and incursions to the situation in the Ukraine. He said Russia was demonstrating its capabilities and gathering intelligence on U.S. military exercises.
He further admitted that there has been a sharp increase in Russian air patrols around Japanese islands and Korea. General Carlisle added that there was more Russian ship activity in the area, too.

The problem is, they're not breaking into US airspace. They're only flying outside the boundaries - which is perfectly acceptable under international law.

We fly fighter jets in international airspace all the time, as well as AWACS or other long range recon aircraft.

You want to shoot a plane down in international airspace now? As for a surprise nuking of California, that's a tad over the top in the paranoia zone, Jem. However, sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be best. We'd be rid of a whole 'lot of democrats! :)

1. the article spoke of california incursions... not international airspace.
if you know for sure these are just international patrols I wonder why there was a news story and quotes.
2. I would not shoot planes down in international airspace and I would give a warning to them not to enter our airspace... i specifically said shoot them down if in our airspace.

1. I am quite certain it is in international airspace.
2. The news articles rarely understand the whole truth, much less report it. Sensationalism is "russian planes off California!!" Truth is much more boring.
3. We routinely send up a fighter to "escort" the bears to make sure they don't do any incursion. But if they stay in international space, there is little we can do.

living in california... living within about 30 miles of carriers and subs and one end and a nuclear power plant to the north... you would have to excuse my lack of confidence.

perhaps you can share your sources with us.
because the russians have been violating others airspace. cnn reported they entered dutch airspace.

So why should we assume they did not enter ours?

The Dutch have their airspace violated several times a year. Has to do with the lack of range between them and the UK. It's quite common, actually.

There are no such misgivings and accidents with our airspace. We take it much more seriously.

But, by all means, if you wish to start building a bomb shelter, I won't stop you. Worry away.
