NRA Admits It Takes Foreign Funds

“The National Rifle Association acknowledged that it accepts foreign donations but says it does not use them for election work — even as federal investigators look into the role the NRA might have played in Russia’s attack on the 2016 election,” NPR reports.

“Pressure on the organization has also been increased by a McClatchy report which suggested that the FBI had been investigating whether a top Russian banker with Kremlin ties illegally funneled money to the NRA to aid President Trump’s campaign for president. The Federal Election Commission has also opened a preliminary investigation into this question.”

Not illegal and not an issue...

NRA Says It Receives Foreign Funds, But None Goes To Election Work

Exactly, because the dollars that go to "election work" have an "EW" written on them with a marker, whereas the dollars that came from Russians all have an "R" written on them and are used for LaPierre's expense account and to help out congressmen in time of need. They are all in the same shoebox under the T-bone steaks in the bottom of the freezer, but as long as there is a marker handy, it's easy to tell the R dollars from the EW dollars.

Works just the same way with foreign money sent to the Clinton Foundation.

another example leading to the many reasons why we can't have our politicians taking money from anyone but individuals. Not china, not russsia, Not the NRA not the Realtors not unions... not asswipe environmentalists who made big money investing in oil companies... not anyone but small donations from individual and filtered through a central hub seen by all and maybe public donations for public funds.

Time to open the NRA's books and the FEC are on that as linked above. The suspiciously small but still significant spend in the Russian troll farm makes sense in light of them hiring the home troll champs.

Isn't this illegal ?

NRA admits moving money from accounts with foreign donations to US campaign accounts

The National Rifle Association acknowledged this week that it has moved money from accounts with foreign donation to accounts that are used for spending on U.S. political campaigns. The organization insists the transactions are “permitted by law.”

After it was announced that special counsel Robert Mueller was investigating whether the NRA was used to funnel Russian money into Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) asked the gun group to prove that the allegations were untrue.

NPR reported on Tuesday that the NRA admitted in a letter to Wyden that “we do receive some contributions from foreign individuals and entities,” but it also insisted that “those contributions are made directly to the NRA for lawful purposes.”

According to NPR, “the movement of its money between accounts could make it difficult, if not impossible, to track how the money is spent since it is not isolated or sequestered.”

In the letter to Wyden, the NRA said that it did “receive funds from foreign persons only for purposes not connected to elections, as permitted by federal law.”

And it acknowledged that some of the money in accounts containing foreign donations is moved into accounts used to fund political campaigns in the U.S. But the NRA insisted that the “transfers between accounts are made as permitted by law.”

“The NRA did not immediately respond to a request from NPR to disclose the total sum of its donations from foreign sources,” NPR noted.

I am only joking of course about the marking of bills by the NRA . But of course people really do write on currency all the time, and yes, it's probably illegal. But what isn't?

Money is fungible so the only way the government could check to see if any foreign contributions to the NRA ended up funding U.S. political campaigns, would be to have highly specific and accurate accounting of every dollar the NRA received and it's specific source, and an equally accurate accounting of every dollar spent and its destination. Good luck with that I say. The NRA is a lobbying organization. The NRA is paid to cover up, conceal, and cloud the sources of it's money and that money's destination. Among the NRA's tasks is to give the appearance that the "organization" is something it is not. If it was easy to track dollars given to the NRA, the NRA would not be doing the job it is paid to do. :D

It is taking the full power of the federal government and a team of twenty highly skilled lawyers to even attempt to track down Donald Trump's dollars, how easy do you think it will be to track the NRA's money?
