nq spike

In the most asinine thing I've done..well at least this week, I accidently bought JUNE NQ instead of SEPT before the close ( I was merely looking for a rotation of 3 or 4 pts into the close. I sold 1147.00 for an 8pt. gain but probably could have made 30 or more extra pts. in Sept. Unless I'm blind I don't think June traded above 1150.

WOW that is a tough break Pabst :(

My suggestion let that go fast...

Like my father likes to say "if it weren't 84 degreese here it would snow :)"

PEACE and good trading,
Commisso

E-mini trading is really a game of chance. Globex not available at times (luckily no serious damage but I couldn't exit when I wanted to), and then that huge spike just after I sold my last short. Casinos are starting to look conservative compared to e-mini trading.

Casino's are conservative to trading after hours. Why would you do it?

why would you rather fight for .01 with the MM's during the regular session when Its so much more fun to trade .25 at a time and see the big dogs get fleeced after hrs.

Because the only edge I can hope for is lucky, and Im not that lucky.

Do they ever break e-mini trades?

Yes the CME does have rules for breaking trades outside a minimum range. For NQ this is over 16 pts and for EMini it is over 4 points. I've no idea if trades were busted in this case or not however.

don't take offense to this....but was a big move in the nq after market really a surprise to you? If it was , i don't understand how you can trade without knowing when the top tech stocks are reporting earnings.
it's a good idea to be aware of all upcoming earnings reports as well as economic # release dates and times.

actually i'm aware of all upcoming econ. reports. i don't care about any earnings reports of single stocks. since i only trade the am - i have no problem with aftermarket spikes anyway.

btw - i guess if orcl reported during rth - the action would have been different.

hi guys,

I hope you made your living yesterday. Unfortunately, I was not there but I couldn't believe the 30pts spread btw cash and fut!!! do you have an idea on how and when globex is going to reimburse your 30 bucks ?
Do you know the exact closing price for yesterday intra-session?

.

then why did you start the thread? To start a talk about trading? Geez Gerry, don't you know this site is now limited to advertising and self-promotion?:D

Seriously, it was a strange spike. So lets all get back to business and make some $. or, let's just sell some nq's and golf the rest of the summer.
