2016-11-23 Summary
Daily P&L: -$301.00 (4 trades, 2 losers, 2 break-evens)
Trade Summary
Trade 1: Placed a stop-limit order just below the intra-day low in the morning to capture a potential large sell-off. Once it triggered the market rallied right back to my stop-loss. My stop-loss on this type of trade should have been much tighter. [-$150.00]
Trade 2: Went short, however once again I entered too soon (on the pull back). Market moved against me about 5 points and ended up breaking even. [+$16.00]
Trade 3: Market sold off rapidly and I thought it would continue to sell off. This trade was decent however my stop-loss should have been much tighter in case I was wrong and the market reversed quickly (which ultimately happened). [-$164.00]
Trade 4: Shorted again once the market hit close to the top of the range after the Fed minutes didn't really get the market to break out in either direction. This one stung as I missed my profit-target by 0.25 a couple times (4840.75, and then 4843.75) before the market reversed on me to break-even at 4846.75! [+$1.00]
It is evident to me that my stop-losses are too large. Going forward my stop-losses will not exceed 5 points (currently at 8 points). This will ensure I'm more disciplined with my entry prices and also if I'm wrong, I take a loss much sooner and strategize my next entry point.
