Now we know what will be regulated in tech!

The whole regulate tech discussion is really about censorship. Its about making sure another Donald Trump never happens again.

‘Unsafe to the community’: Facebook takes on pro-Trump Diamond and Silk

The pair say it took “6 Months, 29 days, 5 hrs, 40 minutes and 43 seconds” to get a response, which they add the network said is “final and it is not appeal-able in any way.”

They posed several questions to Facebook and Zuckerberg, including, “What is unsafe about two Blk-women supporting the President Donald J. Trump?”

“This is deliberate bias, censorship and discrimination. These tactics are unacceptable and we want answers!” they wrote.

This is obvious censorship. I have watched their videos and they are funny. Although I would not consider them a source for news, I never saw them do anything that would violate any reasonable terms of service.

I hope to see the American Civil Liberties Union get involved in this. We have seen hate speech from radical Leftists and worse use Facebook as a reliable platform.

I wonder what would happen if Trump tried to censor Facebook? Aren’t there laws against “attempting to incite a riot” and the like? Such an accusation by Trump might be more than thin legally, but it would be fair play given how Facebook handled these two church-going girls.

Social media companies were granted protection from libel laws by congress. Clearly they should have included a requirement for even-handed treatment of users and banned censorship on political grounds. That can still be done but it will require leadership, so don't hold your breath.

Of course "real conservatives" will whine that they are private companies and should be able to do what they want.

Your solution just means that whoever has the lobby with deepest pockets gets to do what they want, while the less connected get screwed.

Why don't we just turn tech into the banking industry?
