Of course they dont bother to tell you that there are 36,000 flu deaths in the US every year. That leads to almost 100 flu deaths in the US every single day. So why the hysteria over 70 deaths?
Lets get to the bottom of this. This is about the WHO justifying their existance. They need to trump up a scare every once in awhile to secure funding. Lets see. In 2003 we had SARS. In 2005/2006 it was the big bird flu scare. Now right on schedule, for this scare in 2009.

If we use the numbers from the US and assume that the numbers hold up worldwide this would lead to an anual worldwide death rate of about 814,00 a year from the flu. The US has the best healthcare in the world so that is probably a pretty conservative estimate because some people who survive the flu in the US might actually die if they get treated in a shitty hospital in some other country.
The whole point is that if there is going to be some sort of disease that comes and kills a whole bunch of people, there is nothing we are going to do about it. Bottomline. Some jerk-offs from the UN ain't going to stop it, no matter how much money we give them.
