JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli Sephardic leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef in his weekly Saturday night sermon said that non-Jews exist to serve Jews.
Apparently the Talmud has more examples of supremacism than the Torah, which is consumed most by Gentile Judeo-Christians. But even in the Christian supplement ('new testament') there was a problem with Peter maintaining tradition of not eating with Gentiles, whenever there were Jews around (hypocritically).. Moreso, this was long after the alleged enlightenment of "pentecost", and long after a personal vision telling him it was ok.
My reading of the Torah impressed me with a degree of supremacism, especially anything prophetic about Jerusalem (on Mt Zion). I suppose I saw it as harmless as the subjugation appeared to be somewhat voluntary, if not magically induced by the war campaigns (or miracle campaigns) of the Messiah.
Maybe I saw it as more ideological based, rather than race based supremacism. With ideolology, it seemed OK to shun outsiders to preserve ones state of mind/faith...at least during a period of immaturity. I did not see this as problematic while the really immature days of race-based attacks on surrounding towns were no longer expected to come via divine order through mortal generals like Joshua.
But this is indeed a seed bed of supremacism and it's not surprising to see more virulent forms spring up among both Jews and Judeo-Christians, even to the point of white Judeo-Christians shunning 'semitics', and visa versa, with serious long games toward regional and economic dominance. It's possible to see white 'gentile' national-cultural supremacism as a backlash to the semitic long game, as revealed most obviously outside the Torah.
The lesson would be, 'do unto others...'
It might also not be surprising to see both Jews and Judeo-Christians trying to ameliorate the supremacistic (inequality) tendencies of the past, having learned a lesson or two from the ideology of Jefferson.
