Religious wars or Holy wars have been going on since the 9th or 10th century...murders, massacres, destructions and spoliations. Heck, people today are still fighting about what happen in the 9th century and probably still will be when the 30th century arrives.
It has always been mentioned. Thus, it depends on a specific century and where you live during that specific century...one would have been mentioned more than the other.
