I recently tried to do a "W10 refresh" on my v1909 machines . Used to be, W10 users could "select their version" for refresh. Not the case now. Apparently MSFT has discontinued support for all versions prior to the current... which is v22H2. Meaning... you can't "refresh your version if it is earlier than v22H2" because MSFT isn't providing the download/support for it. You can only upgrade to 22H2, like it or not.

OK... so I made a couple of clone backups in case "things went foul" and did the upgrade. Much to my surprise, the upgrade went smoothly.... seems nothing got "broken". (Had to update a few settings is all.)

W10, v22H2 is the final version of W10. Nearly/all W10 users will eventually end up there.

Yeah W10 support ended. Old news.i am surprised OP is not using W98 given his adament stance on avoiding anything new coming from MSFT
 
I mean, seriously, some of the MSFT haters are dumb beyond belief. This is the same firm that pretty much sponsored chatgpt and now offers one of the best coding tools EVER via Github copilot. Windows 11 is very stable and conservative on resource usage. Of course if you deal drugs or are involved in terrorism I would recommend to stay away from MS Windows. For everyone else who does not need Linux, Windows is a perfectly adequate OS, including 11.

OH did I forget to mention they also own the largest world wide code repository, play in the top leave re video and computer gaming, are a top tier cloud compute and storage provider. They also fully embraced open source code development and offer the currently most popular coding IDE.

Must be coincidence that MSFT just made historic all time highs. Please tell us what Meta or Apple do for users not entangled in their ecosystem? Nothing. Perhaps people should cut MSFT some slack.

Relevance?
W10 is still receiving security updates and will do so for years and that is irrelevant of the features update as I understand. Thus W10 is not abandonware or anything like it. There's no real reason to forbid users from using a different features version. It's possible with other operating systems.
 
I did not claim otherwise. I was talking about updates in general and I think certain corporate support for business windows 10 customers also ended.

I was more talking about the twisted ways op tries to stay with W10. But perhaps it's his inability to upgrade, I get the impression he loves cheap, old machines. And he did communicate his aversion to Microsoft in the past.
