LOL! What stupid non sequitur? How would they get blown up by a land mine going back to their legal nation? They can leave legally, you know, like through customs and stuff?? They don't have to "sneak out". They would only have to worry about danger if entering illegally. Also, most illegals didn't sneak over through the dessert in the night. They simply overstayed their visas. Most of them got in through customs and simply didn't leave.

If families do the right thing and go back to their legal nation of citizenship, they will leave through customs, either via airport or via auto, and pass through customs where there are no landmines.

That's fine except:
1) I'm not republican
2) Landmines are uniquely designed (and are HIGHLY effective) for just such purposes as to make people avoid a certain area so I'm not sure why you think the idea is stupid.
3) Properly designed and ubiquitous mine fields would actually have a tendency to reduce fatalities because few people are stupid enough to make examples of themselves.

4) Good advertising of someone winning a darwin award is especially effective even if just propaganda.
