You hit the nail on the head if we cant cut this what can we cut, fwiw im 50/50 as to whether or not someone should have a HOME phone free of charge if they have kids and stuff its kind of understandable, however atleast with homephones we could track, and limit them, 1 per household, with the obamaphones, there are people bragging about having 30-40 of them, and it seems anyone can get one if they are persistent. There doesnt seem to be any tracking system whatsoever in place.
Last time i saw a number on this program it was up to 2 billion dollars under obama, from costing about 200 million when he started, if the cost of the program ever got to 10 billion which im sure it will, that would be enough to pay for every person in the united states to have a cell phone.

This is like the subsidy to public broadcasting. If you can't eliminate something this indefensible, how can you ever cut anything?
Reagan's original idea that people have some means of summoning emrgency assistance had some merit, although it was clearly not something the federal government should have been providing. Somehow that has morphed into providing fee cell phones and substantial free monthly useage. It's outrageous, yet no one will oppose it except this one guy from SC.
